Category 5e (Cat5e / Category 5 enhanced) is a 350MHz rated cable that is designed to handle network speeds up to 1,000mbps (100m meters max). This cable uses 24AWG conductor made from bare, solid copper that are twisted into pairs that is then covered with an overall shield to prevent interference and reduce cross talk in environments that contain excessive EMI/RFI interference. The Plenum jacket is CMP rated, meaning that it is designed to prevent the spread of fire and gives off very little smoke and toxic fumes. This is required fire-rated corridors and many commerical, government, and military facilities. This cable is UTP (unshielded twisted pair) and uses standard Cat5e rated RJ45 plugs, 110 blocks, or patch panels for termination.
